Social Security Law

Being part of the Federal Constitution of 1988, Social Security Law is based on principles and legislation, with objectives related to Social Security which, in addition to being within the three pillars of social security, is provided for in article 201 of the CRFB, which establishes that the Union has the duty to guarantee a general social security regime, with a contributory nature and mandatory membership, with the purpose of offering benefits that protect against social risks.

In this way, Social Security works like insurance, where the insured person makes monthly contributions to the National Social Security Institute (INSS), in exchange for having a guaranteed income when they can no longer work, that is, retire. This guarantee does not only extend to retirement, it also protects workers against so-called “economic risks”, such as loss of work and income due to illness, disability, among others.

The office's work in Social Security Law is focused on defending policyholders against the INSS (RGPS) as well as public servants (RPPS). In other words, RGPS or RPPS policyholders seeking: retirement, aid, pensions and benefit reviews.
